CLAS Information

The College Level Academic Skills (CLAS) requirement is designed to ensure that students have achieved communication and computation skills commensurate with successful completion of the lower-division college course work. Formerly these skills were tested through the College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST), but this is no longer offered. All students seeking an Associate in Arts or a baccalaureate degree from a State of Florida institution are required to satisfy the CLAS requirement. There are several methods by which students may meet this requirement.

The CLAS policy will be enforced. Transfer students with more than 60 semester hours who have not met the CLAS requirement may be admitted, but they must meet the requirement during their first semester at UCF.

Alternatives currently available at UCF are as follows:
Computation Skills (Math)

  1. SAT - quantitative score of 500 or above.

or

  1. ACT - 21 or above on the Mathematics portion.

or

  1. Cumulative GPA of 2.5 in two college level math classes - for instance at least a B and a C.

English Language Skills, Reading, and Essay

or
